We're moving again. We knew that it was coming, that it was time. There were some moments that we seriously thought this might be an international move. But, it's not yet time for that. We aren't moving that far at all really. But I think it's going to feel pretty far from the life we've lived in London for the past four years.
We are trading Zone 1 London city life for English country village life. Matt has a new role in the village of Ascot which is about an hour outside of London. After a surprisingly quick house hunt we found a beautiful cottage in a picturesque nearby little village in Surrey. I'm going to fulfill my dream of living in an quaint English cottage with a name. It's twice the size of our current flat and actually has a full sized American style fridge (woohoo!) in a massive kitchen (so I'll soon have no excuse to not cook).
No more city mouse. We'll be trading our Oyster cards for a car (or two) and our trainers for Hunters. I see long walks through Windsor Great Park, village fetes with loads of bunting and Sunday roasts at the local pub. Picture a fireplace and a dog curled at our feet. After the torment of the London commute, I have to say I'm really looking forward to having some breathing room. London will still be just an hour away by train for when I need my big city fix.
So the blog is going to start looking a little different, more blues and greens, less sky scrapers and city mews. I'll have some time off between jobs which I'm really looking forward to. More time for blogging. Time to get settled and learn how to drive on the wrong side of the road. (You might remember my failed previous attempt. Ack!)
I can't wait to embrace this new life and see what all is in store. We will definitely be spending more time exploring England beyond London with this move. If you have any tips or advice to help me embrace my inner village mouse, please let me know.
We are currently relaxing in Cyprus. This is the post hysterectomy week on the beach trip. The promise of which has gotten me through the past few months. Feel free to follow along on Instagram. I've also scheduled a few posts this week from our trip to Thailand last year (finally). I hope you don't mind if I'm all over the place for a bit until I get caught up.
Can you recommend anyplace in the Ascot/Windsor/Woking area for us to explore?
