Home from our trip... home.
Feels so odd, to have two homes.
Always a bit torn between the two.
Our trip to Texas was absolutely wonderful, but so short.
So many emotions! I cried way more than was necessary,
but all of the feelings were are just overwhelming.
And my gorgeous girl-child is now a wife!
I promise to tell you all about it, but I'm still processing all of it.
As I edit the photos, I'll need to edit my thoughts also. That is going to take a bit of time.
So, today I'll share the next stop on our Epic Do Everything Road Trip.
After one night in Dublin, we headed North and along the way stopped at the
ancient burial mounds of Brú na Bóinne. We took a guided tour of one of the largest
neolithic passage graves in Europe. The mound at Knowth is made up of one large mound
with two passages and is surrounded by 18 smaller mounds.The tombs date back over 5,000 years and are the source of one of the largest neolithic art collections in Europe.
Over 200 decorated stones were found on the site and there are many theories
about what the symbolism means. It was a fascinating place surrounded by stunning views.
There are several other passage tombs in the present day county of Meath along the eastern coast.

When I got home from Ireland, I looked at all my pictures and was like, 'These look fake!' The green grass and the blue sky looked edited, but they weren't - Ireland just seems to have bolder colors than everywhere else! :)
ReplyDeleteCongrats on becoming a mother-in-law this past week! :) I can't wait to hear about the wedding. And you are totally entitled to many good cries. Just going home is reason to cry enough, but your daughter got MARRIED for goodness sake. I'll be a mess when that time comes!
So neat! I love looking at prehistoric things (for lack of a better word haha). Ireland looks so beautiful! The greens are just incredible.

Though I have never been here, it's definitely my cup of tea, I love history, especially English/Irish/Scottish... but that's no secret, my love for the UK.
Now on to your daughter's wedding... Congratulations again my friend, thank you for the invite to the part celebrating her wedding, but after I thought about it, I thought it would be a time of mother/daughter/old friends/ and family and I just didn't want to take away from that, I figured you and I can have a drink in London sometime, or go on a walk about or something, but I didn't want to take away from your beautiful daughter and her big day. In saying that... Loved that she had a Texas themed wedding! When my son got married he almost passed out, he had to take his jacket off :) My thoughts about being away from him (he lives in Abiline) are peaceful at the moment, but I know that the minute my daughter in law gets pregnant I'll be torn between being here or being in England.... ooooo I'm just not going to cross any bridges before I come to them... wait... how did we start talking about babies? ReplyDeleteGreat photos. I did a two week driving tour around Ireland a few years ago with my family but we missed this stop. I guess you just gave me a reason to go back to Ireland! I do love how green Ireland is, but sadly it was raining much of the time we were there, so some of the natural attractions were not so pleasant. Regardless, I love the people and the beautiful country :)

Welcome back! Those mounds are pretty amazing. When I visited Ireland I discovered the reason it is so green and lush is because it rains so much! LOL. But it sure is pretty.
