You know those days when you have a million things that you should do?
You plan all day how productive you're going to be once you get home from work.
Then you get home, shoes and bra off before you're even fully in the door.
And then you watch 6 episodes of Orange is the New Black and drink wine.
While wrapped up in your woobie. And scarfing chinese take out.
That.
Here are some photos from our weekend in Bruges, Belgium.
And I call myself a travel blogger. I'm so sorry I don't have much to say today.
I hope the photos show the true loveliness of Bruges.
Belgium is one of my favorite European countries and always gives me a special moment.
I will never forget walking back to the hotel and seeing the canals at night.
The black water was perfectly still.
A crystal clear mirror reflecting the beautiful architecture of the city.
I felt like I could dive right in and fly to the rooftops.

Have you seen Bruges at night?
Fab photos. I'm off to Bruges in September for a long weekend and now I'm looking forward to it even more.
ReplyDeleteExcellent photos! How nice to get a whole weekend there rather than just a day trip! We have a trip to Belgium planned at the end of July - our first one! We're going to attempt to see Brussels, Bruges, and Ghent (I don't think Ghent is quite as popular as Bruges, but I saw some pictures on the LandLopers blog and it looks very pretty!) Anyway...we're going to try to see all three cities in four days. Don't really have plans to do anything in particular - just walking and lots and lots of food! :) We've got some friends from South Africa living there, too, that I'm really excited to meet. We haven't been anywhere new since Ireland so I'm really ready to do some traveling!
ReplyDeleteBest opening paragraph ever. Bruges was a lovely weekend escape when I lived in Brussels. You can basically get anywhere in Belgium in an hour or two and it is charming - especially in the winter months when there are less tourists - it is magical in the fall when the leaves change. Gent is also a favorite in Belgium - have you been? They have great music festivals in the summer where the bands play on bridges over the river in the center of town.
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like me after I get off work as well! Belgium looks like a charming town! I would love to walk along the canal at night!
ReplyDeleteLove your description today :) And love the photos. We're stopping in Bruges in October and I'm so excited!
ReplyDeleteTaking my bra off at night is one of the greatest pleasures I have yet to experience!
ReplyDeleteI only ever saw Bruges in the daytime, but I found it as enchanting as you. Best toured with a bag of local chocolates in my purse, I think!
ReplyDeleteWell I'm not quite sure what a woodie is, but I have definitely been there! :) Bruges is just amazing! I keep trying to hint around making another trip, but the other half isn't biting quite yet :-/. But get this! I have a friend who just went to Bruges and didn't like it!!! We are not friends anymore. Jk :)
ReplyDeleteOh, I so get you on the bra thing & I've just finished binging on Orange is the New Black. G is sick to death of Piper Chapman, let me tell you!
ReplyDeleteThese photos are amazing Selena and really make me want to visit Bruges ASAP!
Ahhhh, looks amazing. I've always wanted to go to Bruges. One day!
ReplyDeleteWhat's a woobie?
ReplyDeleteA blanket :)
ReplyDeleteIt looks so much nicer than Brussels in many ways. Bruges at night looks gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteI love Brussels. Bruges was just as lovely and a bit smaller. I highly recommend it!
ReplyDeleteI love Brussels, but visiting Bruges & Ghent solidified Belgium as a favorite. Really lovely.
ReplyDeleteYou have to go to Bruges! And Ghent. You'll love it. Are you done with season 2 of OITHB? That show is crazy!!!
ReplyDeleteDidn't like Bruges? Why not? Maybe it was the crowds. There are quite a few tourists about. But it is beautiful. And a woobie is a blankie... er blanket. xx
ReplyDeleteYay Chocolate!!!
ReplyDeleteThe sigh that I make is awfully loud. Oh well.
ReplyDeleteYou're going to love it. If you at all can, go to Ghent! Gorgeous!!!!
ReplyDeleteOh, that sweet baby of yours!!! She is just gorgeous. And so happy! I love Bruges, too. I told Matt I want to live there. Can't you just imagine?
ReplyDeleteSo beautiful. I think you would love Belgium. It's so much fun. Chocolate and beer. What more do you need??
ReplyDeletelol I was afraid I was revealing too much, but it's just the truth. There were so many tourists that weekend. That was the one thing that I didn't enjoy. (Even though I was a tourist. lol) Ghent was an absolute surprise and delight! Straight out of a fairytale. I think it must be just gorgeous in the Fall. Good excuse to go back. xo
ReplyDeleteOh, Sarah. I can't wait to see the photos you capture of Bruges and Ghent. Ghent wasn't really on my radar either, but it is spectacular! So European and gorgeous. You're gonna love it!!!!
ReplyDeleteYou're gonna love it! If you have time, pop over to Ghent. So gorgeous! Thanks for reading & commenting, Lisa!! xo
