Because the dozen Christmas markets in Vienna were just not enough,
we also made the quick trip to Bratislava to see their offerings.
we also made the quick trip to Bratislava to see their offerings.
The Christmas market was terrific but the most fun was had when we found this great little place for dinner.
The gentleman outside assured us that they served the best food in Bratislava.
We were shown into a cave-like basement, serenaded by Slovakian Sinatra and
served wonderful food and drink.
The Original Slovak Restaurant was the highlight of the trip.
Our waiter was adorable and tolerated our raucous shenanigans.
I was delighted to see this picture next to our table.
My mom had this in our house growing up and I've always loved it.
Can anyone tell me what it's called?
We were quite surprised delighted with the size of the wine goblets.
Our waiter took our delight as a challenge to serve more wine in even larger vessels.
The visuals were very helpful when trying to find the proper toilet.
After closing the restaurant down, we made our way to an Irish pub around the corner.
Let's just say there were more shenanigans and stop there with the photos, shall we?
The Gluhwein Gang in Bratislava is now legend.
Have you been to Bratislava?
Matt and I are heading down to Folkestone to spend Christmas with his parents.
I'll be snuggled up by the fire, reading, doing puzzles, eating lots of food,
enjoying Christmas and taking the week off from blogging.
This blog has led to some of my biggest blessings in 2013.
I've met some of the most amazing people.
I've been encouraged and helped so much by your support and comments.
It's been about the connections from the very start.
Thank you so very much for connecting with me!
Merry Christmas.
Many blessing to you and yours in the New Year.

Haven't been to Bratislava yet but I plan to in March, plus my husband has distant family that he's never met there so it should be interesting.
ReplyDeleteYour trip to Bratislava looked a lot more fun than mine did! Have a wonderful Christmas & if I don't speak to you before, New Years! (I need to organise a catch up for my birthday soon, will drop you a text after Christmas)
ReplyDeleteThis is a wonderful photo essay! You really captured the spirit of the market. One thing I really miss being based in SE Asia is that I don't often get to go back home to Canada to experience a proper winter and Christmas.

We're off to Bratislava in a couple of weeks, just after Christmas, to go skiing in Poprad. Although the markets will be over it's great to have a little taste of it.
ReplyDeleteThe food looks so amazing! I'm jealous!
ReplyDeleteHave a fun time off blogging :) but come back soon with more nice stories and shots ;)
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas (belated) and a Happy New Year! :*
Never really been to a Christmas market - except smaller ones back home in the UK. I would like to experience a trip to a Christmas market some time in the future - maybe a bucket list item!
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year to you and your family!
Happy New Year, Molly! I'm loving reading about your experiences in the US. I giggled at the picture of the can opener. The Christmas markets are a must see. Germany was my favorite.
ReplyDeleteI needed the break, but it sure feels good to be back :D
ReplyDeleteSo much food, so little time!
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful time!!! I would love to take up skiing, but I'm not very graceful. Enjoy the snow :D
ReplyDeleteThank you so much, Samuel!! Coming from you, I'm a bit speechless. We haven't had any snow yet in the UK and I'm missing it, too. Iceland in February should cure that though. Happy New Year and Happy Travels!! Cheers.
ReplyDeleteDid I miss your birthday? I'd love to see you!!
ReplyDeleteIt's very interesting. You're going to have a wonderful time. Happy New Year, Brittany!
ReplyDeleteit feels good to have u back as well ;)
