Have you ever wondered what the difference is between
Great Britain and the United Kingdom?
Did you even know there was a difference?
Matthew has explained it all to me several times and it can be very confusing.
I found this very informative video from C.G.P. Grey, so I thought I'd share.
Clear as mud?
Speaking of geography, I'm getting geared up for World Travel Market next week.
Very excited. Will you be there?
I hope you are having a lovely weekend!
LOL, well I did have it right! I did a piece for Yahoo Contributor Network and the editor changed my title 'the Best of British' (about british food) to 'The Best of Briton' which completely freaked me...I don't think many Brits get it, let alone the rest of the world!
ReplyDeleteI love that Youtube Channel - he has so many interesting and super informative videos, not only on the UK, but politics in general. Have you seen his video on the City of London? That's one heck of a confusing topic as well, but I found it really interesting because I really had no clue about any of it before. Would definitely recommend! :)
ReplyDeleteThis was so helpful! I was just traveling through the UK and was completely confused!
ReplyDeleteMatt & I have been making our way through the videos. Will make us much better at Pub Quiz ;)
ReplyDeleteVery good stuff. It's pretty complicated. I still get it wrong sometimes.
ReplyDeleteI haven't seen that one yet. We're working our way through them. They are so well done!
ReplyDeleteYikes, I have no idea what the term Briton means. I'll need to google that. I had no idea how complicated it was, but I'm slowly getting it.
ReplyDeleteOne lady that I worked with, many moons ago, thought the whole of the UK was called England. She was not popular with our beloved Scottish manager.
ReplyDeleteFirst, that guy should get a medal for being able to talk as fast as he does! and that is actually interesting because I recently got into a debate over this with one of my friends :) (over a scattegories game lol) either way, this is very interesting and helpful, thanks for sharing :)
ReplyDelete"clear as mud" - that's an apt description. =)
ReplyDeleteSo proud of myself that I already knew most of that! I actually DO deserve to live here :)
ReplyDelete;) I love that expression.

You do! I'm impressed. And embarrassed to say I wasn't aware of the intricacies until I moved here.

This will come in handy for pub quiz, won't it? :D

I can imagine! I try to be careful with it and Matt is always willing to correct me. :p

I only because of the Life in Britain test - again, which was as clear as mud.
ReplyDeleteSadly, it's just memorise the book; I'm not sure I learned anything much bar statistics from it!
