Our first stop in Stratford-Upon-Avon was the home where William Shakespeare was born and raised.
This 16th century home has been a tourist destination for over 250 years.
It's located on Henley Street which is an old cobbled street in the center of town.
The tour starts with a short, creative audiovisual presentation
and then you can explore the old house.
This is the First Folio which was published in 1623
and is the first collection of Shakespeare's works.
We caught the end of a short performance in the back garden.
The back garden is planted with flowers that would have been popular when Shakespeare lived there.
The house demonstrates how a family of that time would have lived
and there are interpreters in a few of the rooms.
No pictures allowed inside, but it was a very interesting tour.
We paid £24 for admission to the five houses that are a part of the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust.
We only visited 3 of them because we got a late start.
Three of the locations are in town and a close walk from each other.
We drove to the other two sites which were a few miles away. More on them later.
The sites all close at 5pm.
